A Florida man who attempted to forcefully remove AT&T workers from his property allegedly shot the tires of two trucks, according to video footage of the incident.
Jorge Jove, a 64-year-old retired Miami firefighter, was “upset that the trucks were parked in front of his house,” Hialeah Police Sgt. Carl Zogby told WSVN. He added that Jove had asked the workers “to move” their vehicles—to no avail.
The AT&T workers told him they would move in a few minutes, Zogby said.
In the video, a worker can be heard saying: “There’s a guy shooting out my tires ... . I’m at work ... working in the area of Hialeah.”
“He’s shooting the engines on the trucks and everything,” the man can be heard telling a dispatcher. “Shooting ... with an actual gun ... a revolver. He’s shooting out the tires,” he said.
WSVN reported that the employee was working on a telephone pole when the incident unfolded.
Zogby noted that Jove “seemed to be a quiet man, and something made him snap today.”
AT&T, in a statement to People magazine, said, “We’re grateful nobody was hurt, and we’re working with law enforcement in their investigation. Because there’s an active investigation, I need to refer you to them for any questions.”
