Jonathan Flatt went to check out a strange sound he heard coming from a trash bag, so he went over to investigate.
Flatt, 13, was on his way to the bus stop when he encountered the puzzling situation. He was shocked when he opened the bag and found six tiny puppies inside.
“I realized these puppies are abandoned, they’re weak and stuff so I called my mom right away,” the teen told KRQE. He said he was “shocked.”
Jonathan’s mother Jamie said the tiny dogs were too small to have been separated from the mother.
Even worse, they were starving and covered with ticks.
“It took a couple days for them to start to trust us, but then they realized they’re not going to hurt me, this is who is going to feed me, this is who is going to take care of me,” said Jamie.
Now his family is searching for good homes for all the pups.
