As a parent of a 29-year-old daughter with autism, I concur with the doctor who said doctors don’t listen to parents.

In 1995, my daughter received the MMR shot, contracted a high fever for over a month, and went non-verbal for the next 2 years.

Having had 3 children prior who had received the same shots (but separately as 3 vaccines), who had no reactions, we were understandably concerned. The pediatrician attributed the fever to a “bug bite,” of which she had no evidence. We only found the medical records after having moved and discovered the attribution.

In 1995, the 3 vaccines were combined with thimerosal, a mercury derivative designed to extend shelf life of the vaccine. This preservative was illegal to give to animals due to the toxicity, but they were putting it into 18- to 24-month-old babies. Having had children prior, we were very much aware of normal development, and the issues with my daughter gave every indication of delayed development in verbal and social skills.

Amazingly, although required by the government, no notice of adverse reaction was filed by the doctor regarding brand, lot No., etc. And now due to the big pharma lobbies regarding COVID vaccines, we are not allowed to sue the pharmaceutical companies for the harm and damage they caused (and continue to cause).

There will never be a true study because of the huge money involved, not the health of our children. Prime example—the opioid crisis and the Sackler family.

All parents can do is to care for their children and intervene to initiate more services to help children (and adults with autism) adapt to our lives.

Thank you for reading our experience. I’m sure there are thousands more out there.
