The University of Colorado, Boulder is closing its campus Thursday and Friday due to heavy flooding.
Campus also ordered the evacuation of some areas due to the floods, according to a press release from the university.
Campus “police officers have been checking building exteriors looking for safety hazards,” it said.
“Initial assessments indicate that most of the water damage is minor, though it may take several days to dry out areas with fans,” the release stated. “Residence halls with flooding damage on the ground floor include a few units in Reed and Crosman Halls. Those residents have been relocated to other units within the same buildings.”
Floods around the Boulder area killed at least three people, reported KUSA-TV.
“I think we have a continually dangerous situation,'' said Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle, according to USA Today. “It’s not a good day to travel. It’s not a good day to risk your loved one’s lives. It’s a good day to hunker down.”
The storm system dumped at least 10 inches over central Colorado.
