Singer Carrie Underwood said she will donate $1 million to Oklahoma tornado relief efforts, it was reported.
Underwood, a native of Oklahoma, announced Thursday she will make the donation to the Red Cross.
“I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness,” Carrie said in a statement obtained by Access Hollywood. “With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados.”
Her representative said the money will come from her concert tour, the “Blown Away Tour.”
The tornado that swept through Moore, Okla. on Monday killed 24 people and did as much as $2 billion in damages, reported The Associated Press. Entire neighborhoods were destroyed in the F-5 tornado.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant donated $1 million to relief efforts, while Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp donated $250,000.
