Ubisoft, the San Francisco-based game company, was hacked on Tuesday, and it said user accounts were compromised in the security breach.
In a blog posting, the firm said one of its websites was “exploited” and hackers got access to information contained within.
“We instantly took steps to close this off and to begin a thorough investigation with the relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any systems that may have been compromised,” the post reads.
It said that user accounts, e-mail addresses, and passwords were taken during the breach.
However, no payment information, including credit or debit card numbers, was stolen during the hack.
The firm said that users should change their passwords on its websites or “on any other Web site or service where you use the same or a similar password to help ensure the safety of your personal information.”
