Trump to Award Medal of Honor to War Hero in Afghanistan Raid Described as ‘Onslaught of Fire’

President Donald Trump will present the Medal of Honor to an Army Green Beret whose actions helped rescue wounded fellow soldiers during a deadly raid hunting terrorists.

The White House announced that Trump will award the medal in a ceremony on Oct. 30, in honor of Master Sergeant Matthew O. Williams, United States Army, “for conspicuous gallantry while serving as a Weapons Sergeant in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom.”
