True Detective Season 2 Cast Rumors: Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch Set for Lead Roles

Turns out True Detective producers are still looking for a female lead for season 2, and Rachel McAdams is close to snagging the job.

Early frontrunners included Elisabeth Moss, Jessica Biel, and Malin Akerman.

Variety reported recently, citing sources, that HBO has actually offered the role to McAdams, while Taylor Kitsch is expected to land the fourth lead.

Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn have been confirmed as two of the lead characters. 

Season 2 “is set in California and revolves around three police officers and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder,” it noted.

Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner,” according to HBO.

Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”

McAdams and Kitsch are expected to join Velcoro as police officers.

“McAdams would play Ani Bezzerides, described in a circulated breakdown as a tough, no-nonsense Monterey Sheriff who is professional on the job and a drinker and a gambler off work,” noted Deadline.

No premiere date has been set but the show will shoot later this year and is expected to return in summer 2015.
