Toyota’s SpongeBob SUV is traveling across the United States, with an 800-gallon custom aquarium in the back.
The tank begins behind the front two seats and stretches the length of the vehicle, and includes starfish (like the SpongeBob character, Patrick).
“Brett and I love the challenge of designing aquariums in every shape and size and welcomed the opportunity to bring living art like this to SEMA,” said Wayde King, co-star of Animal Planet’s “Tanked” show, with Brett Raymer. “The teams at Toyota and Nickelodeon gave us great platforms in the Highlander and SpongeBob SquarePants to create something fun and inspiring for fans.”
An episode of “Tanked” will air in March highlighting the features of the new Highlander.
The SpongeBob SUV will travel to cities such as Orlando, Chicago, and Baltimore, as well as Hollywood, San Diego, and Los Angeles in the United States.
“We hope fans across the country will enjoy this new take on the 2014 SpongeBob Highlander,” said Pam Kaufman, chief marketing officer, Nickelodeon Group, in the announcement. “With the addition of this amazing new aquarium created by the incredible team at Animal Planet’s ‘Tanked,’ fans will get an opportunity to experience SpongeBob SquarePants’Bikini Bottom like never before.”
Also, thousands of exterior options are available to choose from in the Highlander showroom online for people to imagine their own 2014 Highlander’s in a SpongeBob design.
