A tiger has killed a zoo worker at a British animal park near Dalton-in-Furness on Friday, it was reported.
Sarah McClay, 24, suffered head and neck injuries after the tiger attacked her, reported the BBC. She was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital but she did not survive the incident.
Police are investigating the attack.
“The tiger is securely locked in its enclosure and there is no further risk to the public. Members of the public were not at any risk. The wildlife park has closed early and all visitors have left the park,” a spokesperson with the park told The Guardian.
McClay’s family released a statement to The Independent, expressing that they “very shocked and distressed” to hear she died.
