Microsoft just announced a brand new product line, the Surface Book “ultimate” laptop, a brand new device supposed to complement the Surface Pro 4 tablet.

Made of metal, the Surface Book is slightly bigger than the Surface Pro 4, featuring a 13.5-inch PixelSense touchscreen display that packs 6 million pixels and 267 pixel-per-inch (ppi) ratio.
The device comes with a backlit keyboard that features 1.6mm key travel, which means it'll offer a “best-in-class key stroke” experience.
The laptop packs an NVIDIA GeForce GPU with GDDR5 memory, precision glass trackpad with five points of touch, optimized “by the Windows 10 engineering team.
The Surface Book is going to be twice as fast as the MacBook Pro, and offer 12 hours of battery life.
The best thing about the Surface Book is that it disconnects from the keyboard, meaning that it can be turned into a Surface Pro tablet that’s about the same size as an A4 piece of paper. Just like the Surface Pro, it works with a stylus.
The top of the display contains the main hardware (CPU, RAM and battery) while the base contains the GPU and ports. The special Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge makes connecting the tablet side to the base.
Pricing for the Surface Book starts at $1,499 for the most basic version, and the laptop will be available for preorder on October 7th — the Surface Book will launch in stores on October 26th.
