The Walking Dead wrapped up season 4 last weekend and everyone’s wondering what will happen in season 5, which is going to premiere in October 2014.

Beth is one of the three main characters missing in action after the finale, which saw [spoilers] Rick, Carl, Michonne, and Daryl get trapped in Terminus and herded into a boxcar.

When inside, they saw Glenn and his group--Maggie, Tara, Abraham, Eugene, Rosita, Bob, and Sasha. Carol, Tyreese, and Beth were missing in the whole finale and there’s no telling where they are, especially Beth.

Showrunner Scott Gimple said in an interview with AMC that Beth “in some state, is totally somewhere.”

“I’ll say then, that that’s going to be answered next season. And I’m really excited to tell everybody the answer. It might be a little heartbreaking, it might be a little heartwarming, but it’s going to be interesting.”

Meanwhile, Carl has been going through a lot, perhaps peaking with nearly getting raped then seeing his father bite Joe’s neck and kill most of the Claimers.

Carl revealed to Michonne later that he believes he himself is a monster.

Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) told The Hollywood Reporter that the whole situation was “very disturbing.”

“The child witnessing that and saying it didn’t affect me. Carl has that scene with Michonne where she thinks he was frightened by his father. Carl says it’s the opposite; that he wasn’t disturbed or frightened by it; he wanted to watch. That’s a deeply disturbing area that we’re possibly heading toward next season.”

As for the residents of Terminus, there were several key pieces of evidence revealed in the season 4 finale.A pile of what appeared to be bones and skin was shown; an active memorial was discovered; and the fact that the group has been trapping other people was revealed, per the screams heard from other boxcars.

Gimple told Yahoo that we'll find out the overall plan of Terminus is “extremely, extremely quickly.”

“I mean, the storyline, that was always the plan. There are kind of plans … whereas we have a pretty good handle on Season 5, we have a fairly good handle on Season 6, too. It’s not a great deal of detail for Season 6, but a lot of general stuff for Season 6 is known. And that was the same deal with Season 4, [having a plan going] for Season 5,” he said.

“So as far as Terminus goes, we wanted to get right to a lot of the answers pretty quickly. But I think savvy audience members would know that, too, because it would be bananas to make people wait seven months and then be like, ‘Hey, hold on another couple episodes.’”
