Helena Bonham Carter Honored by Queen
Actress Helena Bonham Carter, who most recently played the role of Queen Elizabeth in the Academy Award-winning film The King’s Speech, has been named in the Queen’s New Year Honors list.
The list is published each year on Dec. 31 and recognizes those with outstanding achievement and service across the whole of the United Kingdom. Bonham Carter has been awarded a CBE designation (Commanders of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to Drama.
The list began in 1918 by King George V, originally to recognize military excellence, but was then expanded to include civil excellence as well.
