Hackers have claimed to have posted more photos of celebrities via the Fappening sub-Reddit on Monday.
They include, allegedly, Saharah Ray, Lauren O'Neil (actress), Allegra Carpenter, Shannon McAnnaly, Wailana Geisen, Nina Stavris, Sofia Kasuli, Ashley Blankenship, and others.
It is unclear if the photos are actually of the actresses, models, and others. None of the stars have issued statements about the matter.
Weeks ago, Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton, Gabrielle Union, Meagan Good and other female celebrities were apparently victimized in the hack.
The news comes as hackers have apparently breached Snapchat accounts in a move called “The Snappening.”
According to the Daily News, the hack entails nude photos of people taken on Snapchat.
“To put this into perspective, just imagine the celebrity nude scandal. Now replace iCloud with Snapsave and blow this up by hundreds of thousands of accounts. Now you have the Snappening,” said Kenny Withers, a social media blogger, according to the News.
Hackers announced the Snappening on Thursday.
Snapchat said that its servers were never hacked.
“Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly prohibit in our Terms of Use precisely because they compromise our users’ security,” a company spokesperson told Engadget.
But Snapsave developer Georgie Casey said his app was not the culprit. “Our app had nothing to do with it and we’ve never logged username/passwords,” Casey said.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has spoken about her nude photos being leaked last month.
“It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting...The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside,” she told Vanity Fair.
