The Boondocks return to television this week to its highest ratings ever.
The 30-minute broadcast on Adult Swim scored 2.9 million overall viewers and 1.5 million in the important 18-49 age bracket.
That 1.5 million figure tied the Los Angeles Clippers-Golden State Warriors NBA playoff game and WWE Raw.
The viewing numbers were up 50 percent from the show’s previous season averages, according to Deadline.
It was Adult swim’s most-watched primetime telecast among the key demographics (it also had 1.4 million within the 18-34 bracket) in at least five years.
The Boondocks season 3 ended in 2010.
At the same time, the premiere of season 4 received mixed reviews, reported the Root.
Some felt that the storyline that was linked to the real life story of Chris Brown and Rihanna, was “weak.” However, most agreed that Uncle Ruckus remains a hilarious character.
