WASHINGTON—Shen Yun Performing Arts continued to dazzle Washingtonians on Wednesday evening, the second day of its 7-day run at the Kennedy Center Opera House.

Yasmina Schwab, a priestess, thoroughly enjoyed the performance of the classical Chinese dance and music company.

“I’m very enchanted, completely enchanted about the performance tonight,” Ms. Schwab said.

“It shows me the true China, the real, the core of China, not just the history but also the spiritual background and the beauty and grace and the perfection.”

New York-based Shen Yun has a mission to revive China’s 5,000 year old divinely inspired culture.

“Sophisticated dance techniques, an orchestra joining instruments East and West, beautiful costumes, and a stunning back drop—this is Shen Yun at first glance,” says Shen Yun’s website.

“But digging deeper, one discovers a sea of traditional Chinese culture. Mortals and divine beings merge on stage as one. Principles such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, respect for the heavens, and divine retribution, all come to life, washing over the audience.”

Ms. Schwab said she could see different values presented in the performance.

“There is beauty, there is this love, there is perfection, inner growth, and development,” said Ms. Schwab, who is originally from Switzerland and has lived in the U.S. for the past 10 years.

“All the good things that God gave us to live every day, and it doesn’t matter which culture we are from or where we are from.; they are universal values, we all have them in us and what we really need to work on is to develop that, bring that forth in us and our world will change for the better if we start with ourselves.
