Sony has begun their pre-sale of their new 3D capable HD TV, coinciding with the company sponsoring the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup in 3D. Time will tell whether Sony will out sell competitor Samsung who is also featuring new 3D TV’s.

Sony isn’t the first electronics company to design a 3D capable television but they are one of the few major corporations to present a full line of 3D capable HD TV’s. Samsung also has a line of 3D capable televisions available for under $5,000 but not many other companies are up to date with the jump in technology.

Sony’s 3D capable BRAVIA HD TV’s are now available for presale at Sony Style stores. The new 3D capable TV’s will not be released to the public in July.

Sony is also offering new 3D capable Blue Ray Disc players along with a digital upgrade that will make a handle full of older model Blue Ray Disc players 3D capable.

“3D is revolutionizing the entertainment industry and only Sony is involved in every stage of the ecosystem,” said Sony representative Chris Fawcett in a statement.

Sony’s 3D capable BRAVIA HD TV’s are being made in 40, 46, 52, 55, and 60 inch screens. Prices will range from $2,100 to $5,000.
