A new "major role" in for the last season of Sons of Anarchy has been cast.
Show creator Kurt Sutter announced the casting but didn't say who the actor/actress is or give details about the character.
"I don't want to announce, I don't want to steal publicity thunder, so I will wait until either the network or the actor issues some kind of statement," he said in a recent YouTube update.
He did say that the character will be in at least eight episodes, "probably more."
Sutter also said that filming will start on Thursday or Friday of this week while the first table read will be on Tuesday.
"We have some scheduling conflicts so we're going to be, not necessarily crossboarding, but we'll be shooting a chunk of episode 2 int he middle of episode 1, so we will have a big through read-through, we're going to read the first two episodes, then I'm going to tone the first two episodes together," he said.
"And then we'll shoot the two of them. We're not finishing simultaneously--sometimes you'll have two episodes, and if a lot of the locations dovetail into each other, you'll crossboard them and shoot them together. I don't really like to do that, just because especially in a serialized drama where things happen sequentially, even though you don't shoot them in order, there's so much information in our episodes that it's best to keep them contained. The reality is that by episode 3 I'll never have two scripts ready by the same time."
Sutter took frequent breaks during his update to play with his bird, claiming at one point that he'd enjoy being a falconer in the desert.
"I want to be a falconer, just want to quit everything and move out to the desert and raise trained falcons. I have no idea what that would entail because I've never done that," he added, smiling.
He also said that episodes one, two, and three are done and ready for filming while four, five, and six are broken, and drafts of those scripts are being written.
