NEW YORK—Two weeks after the 118-year record low cold brought on by a polar vortex, New York City is getting a second snowstorm.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Northeastern region. New York City should expect 6-10 inches of snow.
Snowfall will start late Tuesday morning. The warning is in effect from noon on Tuesday, through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The temperatures will range from 12-22 degrees Fahrenheit, but wind chills will feel as low as 10 below zero degrees Fahrenheit Tuesday night.
Winds will range 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and may affect commutes. Travelers are advised to dress appropriately and limit travel in the heavy, blowing snowfall, and double check for delays or cancellations.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced plans to deploy extra staff at airports, tunnels, bridges, the PATH system, and seaport with 12-hour shifts.
