Snoopybabe, a cat who lives in Chengdu in Sichuan Province, has gone viral on Chinese social media sites and now Instagram, with some saying the feline’s popularity will rival that of Maru and Grumpy Cat.

The whimsical cat has captured the attention of hundreds of thousands, with some describing it as adorable. Others say the cat looks somewhat creepy.

Its Instagram page has nearly 200,000 and the number only appears to be rising. According to the Daily Mail, the kitty has 275,000 followers on Weibo.

The owner of the pet, whose name was not revealed, said the best feature of the exotic short-haired cat is his “pie face.”

Snoopybabe appears to be threatening the popularity of Japanese feline Maru and Grumpy Cat Tardar Sauce.

On its Instagram account, numerous users from around the world fawned over the pet, posting comments in English, Chinese, Filipino, and other languages.

“I want a snoopybabe,” wrote one.

“I saw him on weibo before. He’s so qute,” said another.
