NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Shen Yun Performing Arts brought ancient Chinese traditions back to life this weekend at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, showcasing classical Chinese dance and music.
Among the audience on Saturday, Feb. 25, was Levert Jackson, a company owner, who was accompanied by his wife, Sonia, and daughter, Sade.
“It was absolutely wonderful,” said Mr. Jackson. “We'll be back every year.”
Shen Yun features performances in classical Chinese, as well as ethnic and folk dance, accompanied by a live orchestra which combines both Western and Eastern instruments. Myths and legends are reborn on stage, providing both an entertaining and educational experience for audience members.
Mr. Jackson called the show perfect, commenting that he really enjoyed it. “The choreography was very nice and it was precise,” he said. “Everything was perfect.”
Shen Yun also features an interactive backdrop to create the scenery which reflects China’s numerous landscapes from ancient times to present day.
“The color scheme was beautiful,” said Mrs. Jackson, a medical student.
She also commented on the sopranos, saying that she greatly enjoyed their voices. She added that the orchestra did a wonderful job.
Daughter Sade said of the performance: “It’s amazing.”
