LAUSANNE, Switzerland—The curtain rose to enthusiastic applause from audience members at the sold-out Beauleu Theatre on March 26, displaying a scene of breathtaking beauty as Shen Yun Performing Arts began its first performance in Lausanne.
David Abikzer, a lawyer, said after watching the performance that he is taking home with him “a little bit of China, and a lot of colors.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun takes audiences through 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired culture through the universal language of dance and music.
“It was an adventure in China,” Mr. Abikzer said. “I am going to bring back some travelling memories, like I really went to China,” he said.
At the heart of a Shen Yun performance is classical Chinese dance, which is one of the most rigorous and expressive art forms in the world, according to the Shen Yun website.
Mr. Abikzer said the dance is “associated with a lot of different varieties of rhythms, and it is very technical and physical.”
“The show was absolutely amazing, out of this world, with extraordinary costumes, fantastic colors, and exceptional strength,” he said.
“I will say this show is the magic of China!”
