LAS VEGAS—Reynolds Hall at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 16 to its magnificent stage. Among those in attendance were Retired Air Force Colonel Rosie Heredy and Retired Air Force Chief MSgt. Daisy Parrish. “It was fantastic,” said Colonel Heredy. “It was just so wonderful and uplifting for me to see,” said Chief Parrish.
Shen Yun Performing Arts is amazing audiences around the globe with its three companies that will perform in over 100 cities and 20 countries. With its mission to revive China’s divinely inspired culture and bring it to the world, Shen Yun has been recognized as a “global phenomenon.”
Having visited China, Colonel Heredy said the Shen Yun performance “was fantastic” … and “lovely to see.”
Through the performing arts of dance, music and song one is taken on a journey through the Tang Dynasty, various ethnic regions, ancient folklore, heavenly realms and up to present-day China.
Colonel Heredy was most impressed by the classical Chinese dance and the colorful costumes, adding that it was “very wonderful and great to show the American public, so they learn a little more about other cultures as well.”
Ancient Chinese wisdom states that in order to express true art one must have inner beauty and Shen Yun’s performers strive to meet this standard. Many of the dances aim to depict ancient core values, such as wisdom, propriety, truth, and compassion.
“I think the whole world is at a point now where we need to get back to the basic values, and this performance inspires this in all of us,” said Colonel Heredy.
Many artists, dancers, musicians and world-renowned soloists come together in order to win an accolade such as this; “electrifying, beautiful, and wonderful for the senses,” said Colonel Heredy.
