Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman, got probation as part of a plea deal for perjury.
Zimmerman said she was guilty for a less-serious form of perjury and got a year of probation, reported the Orlando Sentinel.
Circuit Judge Marlene Alva accepted the plea at the Seminole County criminal courthouse in Sanford, Fla.
The deal also requires her to write a letter of apology to Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr., who formerly presided over the case. She will also have to serve 100 hours of community service.
She admitted she lied during one of her husband’s bond hearings in 2012, which is a third-degree felony.
Assistant State Attorney John Guy of Jacksonville said she could plead guilty to a lesser charge of perjury, which is a misdemeanor.
The plea comes as George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges in the death of teen Trayvon Martin, announced he would ask the state of Florida to reimburse him for the costs of his trial.
Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O'Mara, told ABC News of the move this week.
Florida state law requires the reimbursement of all items except for lawyers fees.
Zimmerman reportedly lived off the donations that he solicited via a website.
