A group of House Republicans is urging Senate leaders to reject President Joe Biden’s nominee to direct the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), alleging he has a “hostile attitude toward the rights of gun owners.”
David Chipman, the nominee, argued in 2018 in favor of effectively banning the AR-15, Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), chair of the Republican Study Committee, and other members wrote to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
