Back to the Doctor

New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana threw a bullpen session on July 24 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. He will not appear in his previously scheduled Thursday rehab start due to “lingering discomfort” in his surgically repaired left shoulder. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said on the Mets website, “Whatever it is, it’s sufficient in nature that he wants to have it checked.” Johan will visit a doctor in New York, after which the team hopes to make a new 30-day rehabilitation plan. Santana has not pitched since his 2009 All-Star season.
