Just about everyone by now has heard of Gangnam Style, a dance imitating someone riding a horse invented by South Korean pop music star PSY, who also released a hugely popular song of the same name.

To celebrate the launch of the new Samsung Note II model, the company enlisted the help of PSY who is said to be the inspiration behind the creative and fun device.

On his first visit to Canada as part of the Samsung’s promotion, PSY will make an appearance at the Kool Haus in downtown Toronto on Oct. 30. Although fans can’t buy tickets to the event, they can win tickets through visiting Samsung’s Canada Facebook page or by tuning in to the 92.5 or 99.9 radio frequencies.

“The new Samsung GALAXY Note II is the ultimate smartphone for on-the-go productivity and content creation so we are thrilled to team up with PSY to launch this category-leading device—Gangnam Style,” said Paul Brennen, VP of Mobile Communications at Samsung Canada.

Samsung said the new Note is faster than the old, and “professional by day, fun by night.”

“The growing popularity of Samsung’s latest product category, the GALAXY Note, has been overwhelmingly positive and we are excited to introduce this device to the Canadian market,” Brennan said.

The first Samsung Note sold 10 million units since its launch a year ago. The most recent Samsung model, the S III which launched in May, sold over 20 million units in the first 100 days of its release.
