The tornado that hit Roanoke, Illinois on Sunday destroyed farmhouses and flung debris across fields.
The tornado moved through on Sunday morning.
The farmhouse of Joe and Mandy Bachman was among the destroyed buildings, reported the Peoria Journal Star.
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Tony Johnson, Mandy’s uncle, said. “Mother Nature is a bear.”
Luckily, the family wasn’t home. when the tornado hit.
Dozens of relatives and friends were helping the family pick up belongings from the area.
Police were keeping everyone out of the area except for residents and reporters.
To the southwest, Peoria, Washington, and Pekin were hit hard by tornadoes.
