NEW YORK—Democratic mayoral candidate Christine Quinn launched her the first television ad for her campaign on July 18. She is the first Democrat to do so in the New York City 2013 mayoral race, although Republican candidate John Catsimatidis has been running ads since late May.
Quinn’s 30-second spots, which will run in regular rotation on network and cable TV stations, showcases her record on fighting for the middle class. In the ad Quinn touts passing eight budgets on time while keeping firehouses open and saving 4,000 teachers jobs, and expanding pre-kindergarten slots in the city.
The early TV buy-in is largely due to Quinn’s early primary fundraising, which was completed two years ago, according to her campaign.
“Early planning, early fundraising and a robust campaign infrastructure has given us a significant advantage in getting our message out early and regularly,” said Campaign Manager Matt Tepper in a statement. “And we are making that message abundantly clear: Chris Quinn is the only person in this race who New Yorkers can count on to deliver real results, because she is the only candidate in this race who has already done it.”
