VANCOUVER, Canada—Shen Yun Performing Arts continues to thrill audiences at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre during its five-show run in Vancouver.
Helen Allen, a professor of social work who saw the show on Friday night, thought the Shen Yun performance was “very beautifully done.”
“What I found fascinating was the use of colour,” she said, referring to the hundreds of hand-made costumes in the show as well as the masterfully designed state-of-the art digital backdrops and props.
She was also impressed by the talent of the dancers and “how flexible everyone is, and the flow of the dancers.”
In particular, she noted how in Mongolian Bowl Dance the female dancers are able to dance while balancing bowls on their heads.
“That was very interesting,” she said.
The Shen Yun Orchestra, which combines classical Western instruments with traditional Chinese instruments, also caught Ms. Allen’s attention.
“I loved the music. It’s very upbeat, it’s very lively,” she said.
“There’s a lot of energy in the music.”
Ms. Allen’s son, Nathan, who is a bank manager, was also pleased with the show.
“It was very well choreographed,” he said about the dances in the show.
“The whole thing was quite good.”
