A pro-gun activist from Florida was accidentally shot in the back by her 4-year-old son, who had found found a pistol on the floor of her pickup truck, police said.
Jamie Gilt, 31, was driving to a relative’s home on Tuesday to pick up a horse when her young son pulled the trigger. He was in a seat behind her’s, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department said in a release.
“Our investigation has revealed that the firearm was legally owned by the victim and the child came to possess the firearm without the victim’s knowledge,” the department stated.
