Even as Bernie Sanders swept Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary, the latter could always count on her double-digit nationwide as a cushion in the Democratic primary, but that lead could soon be gone, if it isn’t already.
A new Fox News poll has Sanders with 47 percent support to Clinton’s 44 percent among Democrats across the country, the first time the Vermont senator has polled above the former Secretary of State in a national poll.
In the same poll last month, Clinton led Sanders 49 to 37 percent.
Another poll by NBC still shows Clinton in the lead 53 to 42 percent, but also shows Sanders gaining ground. A previous NBC poll from last month gave Clinton a 25 point lead.
In Nevada, the site of the next Democratic primary this weekend, Clinton and Sanders are locked in a statistical tie, 48 to 47 percent, according to CNN. Clinton should fare better in South Carolina, the primary after that, where she had a 22 point lead, according to Bloomberg.
An open letter from four prominent economists, all of whom served as advisers to Democrat presidents in the Council of Economic Advisers, criticized Sanders for making “fantastical claims” in his tax plan.
