BRASELTON, Ga.—The weather was perfect for racing at Road Atlanta Thursday: warm with just few clouds to keep the sun from getting to hot.
The cars provided plenty oof energy of their own: Corvettes, Porsches, Ferraris, BMWs, Vipers—plus the purpose-built pure racing machinery of the prototype class, the Lola-Mazdas and Ligier-Hondas. blasting down the back straight at 180 mph.
Practice resumes Friday morning. In the afternoon, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge runs its season-ending race, followed by qualifying for the Tudor United Sports Car Championship Petit Le Mans, the ten-hour endurance event which will decide the class titles.
The 17th Petit Le Mans ten-hour endurance race takes the green flag at 11:15 a.m. EST on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The race will be streamed live in its entirety on IMSA.com. Television coverage starts at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 2, running continuously through the podium ceremonies. A two-hour race recap will air Sunday morning at (possibly) 8 a.m. on Fox Sports 1 or your local Fox affiliate.
