LOS ANGELES—Theatergoers and cultural seekers alike filled the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Friday, Jan. 13, to see the much talked about Shen Yun Performing Arts, bringing to life ancient China’s artistic traditions. The New York-based Shen Yun performed to sold-out audiences during its Los Angeles run.
Among the guests to arrive were Mr. James Frawley and his family. Mr. Frawley is a partner and co-founder of Westside Investment Management, LLC. He also serves his community as a Rotarian.
Mr. Frawley brought his children along to the performance to learn a little more about the culture, he said.
“The show is absolutely fabulous,” said Mr. Frawley. “It’s wonderful—the dancers, the choreography, the costumes, absolutely amazing!”
Shen Yun, founded in 2006, takes as its mission the revival of the genuine traditional Chinese culture, which has as its essence universal themes of morality and spirituality such as compassion, courage, justice, faith, and reverence for the divine.
“I absolutely love the spiritual and cultural part,” Mr. Frawley said. “I’m sad to hear they lost it for so many years, but hopefully it'll come back.”

New York-based Shen Yun has three touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world. Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company will next perform at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, San Diego, Jan. 19-22.
