Michael Johnson, the only paraplegic open-wheeled racer in North America, has retained his sponsor Coloplast for the 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship season. Re-signing Coloplast ensures that Johnson will have a ride in the Mazda Road to Indy program for the next year.

“I am very excited about Coloplast’s continued support of my program in 2013” explained Michael, “It’s great to have them back as my sponsor and after what we learned in 2012, we aim for greater success in 2013. ”

The sponsorship relationship goes beyond money. The 20-year-old racer, who was paralyzed from chest down in a motorcycle-racing accident in 2005, uses Coloplast products.

“I’ve used SpeediCath for several years and I can truly say it has changed my life simply by allowing me to live my day to day life on my own schedule. The travel schedule and long days at the track would be very hard to accomplish without using SpeediCath,” Johnson explained.

Johnson, who drives using hand controls, hopes to be the first paralyzed driver to participate in the Indy 500.
