Parallels has announced the release of Parallels Desktop 6 For Mac, the latest version of its popular software, available from Sept. 14.
Parallels Desktop is a virtual machine. Unlike Apple´s Boot Camp which requires rebooting before transferring from a Mac platform to Windows, Parallels enables users to run both systems simultaneously.
Parallels launches like other software with one simple click taking users to a Windows platform. The new version’s launch time is 41 percent faster than the previous one.
Parallels 6 also has parental control and virtual machine encryption, and gives better graphics and audio settings. Plus files saved in one platform can be browsed and edited in the other through common folders. Mac shortcuts are also enabled in the Windows platform.

Parallels will be available for purchase online at $79.99, and $39.99 for students. Existing Parallels Desktop users can upgrade for $49.99.
