OTF Nunu, a Chicago-area rapper related to Lil Durk, was shot and killed over the weekend, prompting many to tweet “RIP.”

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, OTF Nunu--born McArthur Swindle--was just 21 years old when he was killed on Saturday, May 31.

Nunu was planning to release a mixtape called “Nuski Got Da Strap.” “This was going to be his big breakout project,” said Merk Murphy, who runs a studio where he was recording his music.

“He was one of those kids who saw an opportunity to put himself in a better position with his music,” Murphy added.

The Sun-Times reported that Nunu’s death might have been related to gang activity. His aunt, Sherri Swindle, told the newspaper that he wasn’t affiliated with any gangs, however.

She added that he was taking classes at Joliet outside of Chicago.

“It needs to stop,” she told the Times, adding that his father was shot and killed in 1995. “He was a good person. He was a kindhearted person. He had a lot of soul.”

Nunu was killed after an unidentified assailant approached his car and opened fire.

“Just seeing him r.i.p. lil bro,” YoungChopbeatz wrote on Twitter and Instagram Saturday, reported DNAInfo.

Lil Durk had posted several tweets about Nunu over the weekend. “We goin to miss u bro @OTF_NUNU . #OTF #NUSKIGANG ,” he wrote. “We at the top @OTF_NUNU,” he added.
