Baltimore Orioles v New York Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles (74-59) used a four-run sixth inning and then a three-run eighth inning to pull away from the New York Yankees (76-57) for an 8 – 3 win Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of the three-game set.

Phil Hughes (13-12) took the loss allowing five runs in five innings. Hughes allowed four of the runs with no outs in the top of the sixth inning, which was capped by a Mark Reynolds three-run home run. Cody Eppley relieved Hughes as the Yankees used seven relievers over the final four innings.

The Yankees managed six hits on the day on offense, including a two-run home run by Chris Dickerson. Their lead in the AL East, which was once ten games has shrunk to two.
