A group of Norman High School students escaped a burning bus on Interstate 44, according to reports.

KWTV posted an image on Twitter of the bus on fire, with a massive plume of black smoke emitting from it.

The bus caught on fire near Lawton.

Reports said there were no injuries. There were around 43 people on board

They were on their way to Cameron University, KWSO reported.

The bus was on Interstate 44 in Comanche County when it had a mechanical problem on Tuesday that led to the bus catching fire. Officials say 43 students were aboard and all got out safely.

All of the band’s uniforms and instruments were left on the bus. There was no immediate indication whether the equipment was damaged.

Another bus brought the students to their destination.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
