President Barack Obama said that he “was just too polite” during last week’s presidential debate.
“I think it’s fair to say I was just too polite, because, you know, it’s hard to sometimes just keep on saying ‘and what you’re saying isn’t true.’ It gets repetitive,” Obama said Wednesday on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.” He added, “The good news is, is that’s just the first one.”
Obama said that “it’s fair to say that we will see a little more activity” during the second debate with Romney on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Republican challenger Mitt Romney was widely declared the victor of the first debate and many panned Obama’s performance for appearing unenthusiastic, while not addressing Romney’s weaknesses.
Vice President Joe Biden “will be terrific” in the Thursday debate with Romney’s running mate Paul Ryan, Obama remarked. Biden likely faces increased pressure to perform following last week’s debate.
On Wednesday, Romney visited the battleground state of Ohio and reiterated a statement he made during the debate: “I’m not going to raise taxes on anyone,” according to a new commercial, reported The Associated Press. “My priority is putting people back to work in America.”
The nationally televised Biden-Ryan debate will be Thursday, Oct. 11 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time in Danville, Ky.
