Five people were displaying Ebola-like symptoms in the Brooklyn borough of New York City on Monday, according to rumors that were being circulated on Twitter. However, the Health Department says that the reports are not true.

The information appeared to come from police scanner traffic but was unconfirmed. A number of users retweeted the information from several accounts which posted the scanner traffic.

A number of African countries are still grappling with Ebola, primarily several West African countries including Liberia.

There has been one case of Ebola in the city this year, but it was treated successfully.
