Last year, former mayor Michael Bloomberg vetoed a bill that would require the New York Police Department to report hit-and-run information quarterly instead of once every two years.
NYC City Council had originally passed it unanimously in December, and overrode the veto on Feb. 4 at a stated council meeting.
The legislation also requires NYPD to include the intersection and a brief description of the steps taken to investigate each incident.
The override passed unanimously.
