Key to the City

From June 3 to June 27, free keys will be given out from the Key to the City kiosk on Broadway between 43rd and 44th Streets. You will receive a key to bestow on anyone you choose and a map of the locks the key can unlock. The booth is open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and noon to 8 p.m. on the weekends. Due to the popularity of the project, the lineup to receive the keys will close at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Mini 10K Run with New York Road Runners


A women-only 10K run will take place in Central Park 9 a.m. this Saturday, June 12. Featuring 11 Olympians this year, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) race has a history of almost 40 years. Registration and number pickup will be available at NYRR (9 E. 89th St.) on Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. or at the registration tent in Central Park near the finish on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. An award ceremony will follow the race. The registration fee ranges from $23 to $37 before the race day and $25 to $40 on the race day. The entries on race day are limited.

The Tony Awards


Broadway’s most desired awards will be held at Radio City Music on Sunday, June 13, at 7 p.m. Presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, the 64th Annual Tony Awards will be telecasted live on CBS television network at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $229.50 to $429.50. It is a black-tie only event.

The Sleeping Beauty—American Ballet Theatre


The all-time favorite fairy tale of the beautiful Princess Aurora is set to enchant New Yorkers at the Metropolitan Opera from Monday, June 14, to Saturday, June 19. “The Sleeping Beauty,” a two-and-a-half-hour American Ballet Theatre production, showcases the splendor of classical ballet set to Tchaikovsky’s score. Tickets range from $20 to $105 depending on both the seating and the date.

The Greatest Trumpeter on Earth


The Avery Fisher Hall of Lincoln Center will host the “greatest trumpeter on Earth” from Thursday, June 17 to Saturday June 19. With Alan Gilbert as his conductor, trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger will perform a range of music from Mozart’s “Symphony No. 25,” Wagner’s “Siegfried Idyll,” to HK Gruber’s “Aerial.” Tickets range from $29 to $112.
