New Jersey Transit Train Hits Police Car, Service Suspended

An NJ Transit train hit a police car on Thursday, causing delays and service disruptions on the Raritan Valley Line, according to reports.

NJ.com reported that a train without passengers hit a local police vehicle.

William Smith, a transit representative, told the website: “It was a Bridgewater Police vehicle at the Polhemus Avenue crossing.”

NJ Transit service was suspended between Bridgewater and Raritan.

NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. said that Bridgewater police were in the area investigating reports of trespasser on the tracks when the crash took place, AP reported.
