A flash flood warning was issued for several counties in New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service, amid reports of heavy flooding in some areas.
Hunterdon County, Somerset County, Middlesex County, Burlington County, Cape May County, Monmouth County, Atlantic County, Ocean County, Southeastern Salem County, and Cumberland County were all placed under the warning, the agency said.
The warning will last until around 2:45 p.m.
The service said that radar “indicated very heavy rain from thunderstorms over southern and central New Jersey,” noting that “these showers and thunderstorms were moving northeast at around 20 mph. 3 to 4 inches of rainfall is possible from some of these storms, which will result in rapid localized flooding.”
Residents in Blackwood, N.J., Washington Twp., and Coatesville posted photos on Twitter showing flooding.
