Brooklyn Nets forward Reggie Evans became the first player fined for flopping this season, according to a report on the NBA’s website.
A player receives a warning for a first offense before drawing a $5,000 fine for the second violation.
Evans’ punishment came against the Lakers in a game Tuesday night. Evans took a spill after receiving what looked to be a very light bump from Lakers forward Metta World Peace and almost took out a referee standing nearby.
Evans’ first violation came against Boston on November 15 after going down with what looked like minimal contact while in contention for a rebound.
The rule, new to the league this season, calls for a $10,000 fine should Evans do it again, $15,000 for a fourth violation, and then $30,000 for a fifth time.
