DALLAS—Shen Yun Performing Arts impressed the Winspear Opera House audience during its final performance in Dallas, on Dec. 18, where it was met with great cheers and continuous applause.

Gary Eley, a piano teacher, was among the audience members. In his opinion, the New York-based company’s production was “excellent.”

“This is just fantastic. Because it had so many different elements. Between the soloists, the dancers as a group, the pianist (and the) orchestra ... wonderful!” Mr. Eley said.

Jimmy Ortiz, who had come along to see Shen Yun with Mr Eley, declared that he was spellbound by the atmosphere that had been created by the music and lighting.

“You make everything, the performance and the clothes, just so exciting and elaborate, and I really have enjoyed watching this show,” Mr. Ortiz said.

Mr. Eley agreed and said he hoped to be back next year.

It was the orchestra that impressed Ms. Beth Lacroix, a clarinet teacher.

“I really, really enjoyed the music, the mix of the Western with the Chinese music,” Ms. Lacroix said. “I just enjoyed the mix very much.”

The two musical traditions blended well and the effect was pleasing, she said.

Ms. Lacroix concluded, “It makes me want to explore this more.”

The Shen Yun Orchestra combines Western and traditional Chinese instruments to create a truly unique sound.
