NEW YORK—Museums on Fifth Avenue between 82nd and 105th streets open their doors to the public every year one evening for free, rain or shine.

This year’s Museum Mile Festival, the 34th annual, has the 10 museums, including the massive Metropolitan Museum of Art, opening Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Live music, entertainment, and activities for children are also included.
