Singer Willow Smith and 20-year-old Moises Arias caused controversy this week when they were photographed together, with Arias shirtless.
One shot was posted to Arias’ Tumblr and Instagram account, but it was deleted from the Tumblr account on May 6, according to Billboard.
Smith, 13, is the singer daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Arias starred in “Hannah Montana” along with Miley Cyrus.
On social media, users criticized the photograph, of which the context is not clear.
“The only thing more shocking than Willow Smith in bed with a 20-year-old is finding out Moises Arias is in fact 20 years old,” one person said.
Added another, “Wait, some photo of willow smith has people questioning the smith’s parenting... now? jesus. y'all way late to that party.”
A source close to the Smith family told Hollywood Life: “Moises is Jaden [Smith]‘s best friend and that has been true for a few years... He has been friends with the family forever as well and this in no way was meant to look or feel sexual.” Jaden Smith is the brother of Willow.
“Everyone close to the situation is saying that this could have happened in a pool and Moises Arias could have his shirt off and nobody would freak out. People are just taking a sick turn on something that was meant to be extremely innocent.”
Pinkett-Smith also said there’s no problem.
“Here’s the deal: there was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation,” she told E! “You guys are projecting your trash onto it, and you’re acting like covert pedophiles, and that’s not cool.”
