ATLANTA — Police say a woman was fatally shot in her vehicle in a parking lot near a restaurant and other businesses in Atlanta.
Atlanta Police Capt. Ben McGee tells local news media that Jokisha Brown of Duluth was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside her black Mercedes SUV at a strip mall on Friday night. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say they have no suspects.
WSB-TV reports that Brown was actress and model who would have turned 36-year-old on Saturday. Friends say Brown went to the area to get her makeup done.
Police say Brown was shot through the front passenger side window.
“We’re actually interviewing witnesses on the scene. We do have a number of people who were on the scene when the incident occurred. We are collecting evidence, a number of shell casings,” said Capt. Ben McGee. “It’s her birthday, and all of sudden she’s gone. Gone too soon. I just can’t believe it,” said Brown’s friend, according to WSB-TV.
A GoFundMe was set up for Brown’s family. “Jokisha was a very loving, smart, beautiful, she would give her last to help anyone. In an effort to properly bury her we are asking for help,” it wrote.
